Traditional design approaches often involve a reductionist approach to understanding the world, in which complex systems are analyzed and understood through a focus on their individual components. This approach has been successful in providing insights and predictions about how these components behave, and in developing technologies and systems that are functional and effective.

However, this reductionist approach also has its limitations, as it can ignore the complexity and interdependence of the world and the emergent qualities that result from those relationships. This can lead to designs that are not in harmony with the natural world and that have negative impacts on nature and on human society.

That is not to say that the ability to isolate and reductive analysis of the human experience is not a valuable asset to design. But bringing the digitized experiences back into the natural analog form of life experience is very challenging. In recent times at the age of digital, technological cultures have pushed the digital experience so far that the holistic experience of life has not been completely neglected. How can a society not change, when the success of the analytic and digital in the material development of the technological approach is so undeniable? When taken too far, this approach leads to overconsumption, addictions, self-destructive behavior, and bias in nature. Most recently, technology has also been considered addictive and self-destructive. For example, the artifacts of advanced technology, especially computer technology, including computer games, social media websites, and the Internet have been criticized for the negative effect they are having on human beings associated with the benefits they promise. As a result of technological advancement with its numerous benefits also creates social and economic inequality, and damages human health both physiologically and psychologically.

Technology has the potential to bring numerous benefits to society, including improving communication, increasing efficiency and productivity, and advancing healthcare and other fields. However, it is important to recognize that the development and use of technology can also have negative effects on both individuals and society.

Some of the negative impacts of technology on physical health include eyestrain, poor posture, sleep problems, and reduced physical activity, which can contribute to a range of health issues including obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. The overuse or dependence on technology can also have psychological effects, including social isolation, depression, and anxiety.

In addition to the impacts on individuals, technology can also have social and economic effects, such as the creation of digital divides and the widening of the income gap. It can also contribute to environmental damage, including air and water pollution and the depletion of natural resources. It is important for designers and policymakers to consider the potential negative impacts of technology and to work to minimize or mitigate these effects in order to create a more sustainable and equitable future.

Designers have a responsibility to consider the potential impacts of their designs on people and the environment, and to create solutions that are sustainable, adaptable, and in harmony with the natural world. This may involve adopting a more holistic and systems-thinking approach to design that takes into account the complexity and interdependence of the world and seeks to create solutions that are aligned with the needs and values of the people who will use them.
